Description

1987 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle – U.S. Mint Bullion Coin – 22k Gold

The 1987 American Gold Eagle is the second year of issue in the U.S. Mint’s flagship gold bullion series. Struck in .9167 fine (22k) gold, it contains a full 1/2 Troy ounce of pure gold and carries the timeless Saint-Gaudens Liberty design, paired with the original family of eagles reverse by Miley Busiek.

  • Contains 1/2 Troy oz of .9167 fine gold (22k)

  • Official U.S. Mint bullion coin

  • Obverse: Lady Liberty with torch and olive branch

  • Reverse: Family of eagles (classic design)

  • Legal tender with $25 face value

  • Brilliant Uncirculated condition

  • Early-year issue with growing collector interest

As one of the earliest Gold Eagles, the 1987 edition is often sought out by collectors building full-year sets or adding better-date bullion coins to a long-term physical gold portfolio. It blends the beauty of classic American design with the reassurance of U.S. government backing and global recognition.
